The Department of Agriculture (USDA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Urban League, solidifying their mutual goal to promote nutrition and food security in America. Many urban areas experience food scarcity, and this partnership will ensure an equitable distribution of USDA services across the country. This partnership will also encourage the practice of urban agriculture and learning about this new agricultural field.
“This signing reinforces USDA’s commitment to improving health outcomes and quality of life in the communities that we serve,” said Secretary Tom Vilsack. “To help those who have been historically underserved, it is paramount that we work together with a shared commitment to improve access to our programs, equip people with the resources they need, and advance equity goals.”
